Two different obvious leaks have revealed that pre-orders for the Apple Watch Series 7 will begin next week and the wearable will ship the following week.

Jon Prosser, a leaker with a long track record of Apple products, wrote on Front Page Tech that “several sources familiar with the publication” have said that pre-orders “will start no later than next week, with shipping in mid-October.”

And, as first reported by AppleTrack, an email to customers of the luxury brand Hermès (which makes products related to the Apple Watch) became more specific: it mentioned the first day the watch was ordered. “The Apple Watch Series 7 will be available for pre-order from October 8, 2021,” says the short email.

Last month, Apple hosted a product launch video stream detailing several of the new iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch models for 2021 for the first time. While the iPhones and iPads were getting release dates, Apple simply said the Watch would be “available later this fall”.

Apple has been showcasing the new flagship iPhones and updated Apple Watch wearables side by side at an event in mid-September for several years in a row, but it was unusual for the company not to use this platform to announce a launch date for one of them give these products. In the run-up to the event, various reports claimed that supply chain challenges could affect Apple products this year, including the Watch.

The Apple Watch Series 7 offers a subtle redesign with a larger screen over its immediate predecessor. It also features a faster chip and more durable materials. Overall, it’s a modest annual update to the device with no major new features.

A recent Wall Street Journal report cites people familiar with Apple’s plans and claims that the watch will get new health tracking features over the next year that weren’t included this time around.
