“Unleashed”: Apple’s subsequent, probably Mac-focused occasion will happen on October 18th
Apple wants you to mark a different date on your calendar. The company’s next product announcement event will be on Monday, October 18 at 10 a.m. PDT, a little over a month after the last event. As always, we follow our typical live blog and extensive coverage of the announcements.
The company’s announcements in September focused on iPhones, iPads, and the Apple Watch, as well as new software updates for these devices. We expect the October event to be largely devoted to the Mac lineup – namely, the long-rumored Apple Silicon updates to the MacBook Pro lineup, possibly with a faster Mac mini or an iMac with a bigger screen. The 16-inch MacBook Pro in an update is long overdue – Apple added a few new GPU options in mid-2020, but the laptop’s other specs haven’t been touched since late 2019.
We also expect to hear of a release date for macOS Monterey that has remained in beta as the other operating system updates from Apple have been released to the public. Monterey is a relatively minor update compared to Big Sur’s zippy redesign last year, but our in-depth review will treat the changes as it does every year.
