Team USA is looking for gold on the diamond.

USA baseball hopes to take gold on Saturday morning and secure the country’s second Olympic gold medal in a knockout rematch against host nation Japan.

The US bats came alive against South Korea, putting up a crooked number late in the game and pushing the Koreans into a bronze medal game with the Dominican Republic on Friday night. Tyler Austin, Mark Kolozsvary and Jack Lopez scored runs in the sixth inning rally, helping to win the semifinals.

Now the United States is hoping to take revenge on Japan – this time with much higher stakes.

Sporting News will provide live updates, highlights and more from the gold medal game of baseball.
